Must-Have Facial Masks

We are always asked questions about our skin routine and we couldn’t be happier to finally answer your questions!  Both our skins are very different and because of that our needs and different too.  I will be talking about  some of my beauty essentials and I will let Karen talk about her beauty routine later on.  So be on the lookout for her beauty post soon 🙂

I can’t even tell you how giddy I feel right now writing this beauty post for all of you.. even though it’s past midnight.  I am completely obsess with having clear gorgeous skin ( I know I’m not the only one, right girls?).  I have had some skin troubles down the road.  It’s been a long journey to say the least.  First I want to tell you that I am extremely picky when it comes to anything that has to to with beauty.  What I use on my face, what I put on my hair, who I go to for facials, or for the perfect cut and color.  I would never recommend something that did not have great results on me.

I like to do an intense review before I purchase any beauty product.  Sometimes these reviews I do can last weeks, even months! (tell me I am not the only one that does this??).  With that said,  I could write for hours about what I have learned and what products I use depending on the season, weather or my current skin needs.  But I want to write all beauty posts in small parts so that you get a good quality review and also because I don’t want you  falling asleep hehe.

Facial masks-  I CANNOT live without them.  The Sugar Face Polish by Fresh & the Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque by Kiehl’s are my current favorites.  I use both of them every week.  Are you ready for a detailed, honest review?  Here we go:

Sugar Face Polish by Fresh–  This is a gentle exfoliant that can be used more than once or twice a week.   I like to use it as a mask.  I apply on clean, moist skin and gently massage my face except for the eye area.  I leave it on my skin for 10 min and then rinse with warm water.  My sensitive, acne prone skin feels calm and rejuvenated every time I use this.  How many times you exfoliate your skin will depend on your skin type.  You have to remember to not over exfoliate because then you will be stripping your skin of it’s natural oil and it will send a message that it needs to produce more oil to compensate and that’s when more break outs happen!  I have made that mistake before.  Over exfoliating can also cause irritation, and for some people it causes dry patchy skin areas.  I have normal to oily skin (t-zone) and what works for me it’s to use this mask once a week.  This facial polish buffs away dead skin for a smoother, softer complexion thanks to the real brown sugar crystals.  Also, it has crushed wild strawberries that deliver antioxidant vitamin C to protect and heal skin.  I would most definitely recommend this to anyone that is wanting a healthy natural skin glow.

Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque by Kiehl’s–  There are so many Mud masks out there and I have not tried all of them, but what I can tell you is that this precious cleansing masque has been A-mazing for helping clear my breakouts  and to calm the oily parts of my skin (specially during  the summer).  I really have to give credit to Nordstrom for this because if it wasn’t for the employee that overheard me saying to my friend while we were looking at beauty products that I have been looking for the perfect facial mud masque for months  I would of never tried a sample.  He listened when I told him what I was looking for in a masque and he said he knew I would fall in love with the Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque by Kiehl’s  and he was absolutely right!  Gotta love Nordstrom and their great customer service.  This masque helps to purify skin, leaving the appearance of pores minimized and skin refined.  That is going to help eliminate debris and dead surface skin-cell accumulation that can clog pores and leave skin dull-looking.  This product is so easy to use and it last a long time!  Again, just like the Sugar Face Polish, I apply it on clean moist skin and leave it for about 10 minutes.  I  use it twice a week.  Once all over my face skipping the eye area of course and the second time I use this during the week I only apply it to my oily areas (forehead and nose).   I have been using this masque for 5 months… My pores appear smaller and my face feels very clean after using it!  You have to go get it.  You will fall in love with it too!

I love having an “at home spa treatment”  when I can.  Usually that happens on Sundays.  After my husband and I put our little ones to bed  I like to have a “time out”.  I turn off all technology (hello Instagram obsession!), I apply one of my two favorite masks, fill up the tub with warm water with drops of lavender oil and I close my eyes, relax, and enjoy the moment.  Even just sitting down and reading my favorite book of all time (Treasure yourself) while letting the masque sit on my skin …… mm wow, is it Sunday yet?

Everybody has different skin needs but I hope this post has been helpful.  Go try out a sample and let me know what you think.  Are there any facial masks out there that you can’t live without?  I am always on the look out for the best skin care products.  Any recommendations?

XOXO

Jess
