An hour before my birthday lunch with my whole family, I decided last minute that I “needed” a new outfit to wear. My sweet husband agreed (probably only because it was my birthday) and we packed the kids in the car and drove to the mall. Daniel kindly suggested he should take the kids to the play area while I looked around so I could have alone time which seemed like I hadn’t had any time to my self for a while so I was happy with his idea. I basically power walked my way through the mall trying to get to as many stores as I could. Sadly I didn’t find anything I liked. This whole thing would of been a waste of time if it wasn’t for the fact that I took this “alone time” to reflect on what it really meant to turn a year older. The truth is, it wasn’t until this birthday that I actually realized that birthdays are more than just a celebration. I hoped I was a better person than the year before, a kinder, more patient, and wiser person. In just about 30 minutes I learned a lot about my self and I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some things to reflect on your birthday and some things to let go before your birthday too!
What have been the high and low points of last year?
What surprised you? What disappointed you?
What made you laugh? What made you cry? What have you spend most of your time doing?
Did you live up to your full potential?
let go of what it isn’t making you smile or grow.
Let go of lazy attitudes and routines.
Let go of all self-hate.
Let go of yesterday.
Sometimes walking away is a step forward.
There is no such things as “the perfect time”, sometimes you just have to take charge.
Hard times often leads to greatness.
Give as much as you can, but don’t allow yourself to be used.
Life isn’t perfect but it’s pretty darn good.
I had a great day with my family and your birthday messages made my day even more wonderful! Thank you!
