You never have to wake up and seek for negativity. It’s out there.. ALL THE TIME. It’s in the radio, and in any type of social media, at work, at school, at the grocery store, it’s in most people too. Negativity controls most of us. I recently took on a new project and it’s been a very exciting challenge and with that came lots of negativity too and not even from me but from others around me. I realized at that point something that I had never been able to put into words before. In order to be positive in such a negative world, you need to practice it DAILY. It’s a mind exercise. You have to train your brain to think positively, to seek the good in things more than the bad. It’s definitely a lot more work to be/stay positive than to be negative. They say it’s harder at the beginning but if you do it long enough it becomes a routine. And a constant routine becomes a habit. And a habit is hard to break.
Below are 10 techniques I use to stay positive. I am not perfect by all means but I am trying to be the best I can be. For me, for my kids and for anyone that I am around with. I hope you will join me on this road to happiness.
1) Control the number of negative people in your life
6)Read a good inspiring book 15 min a day (I recently started doing this and I can’t recommend it enough!)
7)Sing and dance (embarrassing much?? yes. But I get my kids involve, and we have a big dance party every day, even when I don’t feel like it. It’s our routine, and it helps us shake off whatever negativity we absorbed that day. When I had a long day we dance, when my son has a rough day at school I say “let’s sing and dance!” And that little frown quickly turns into the brightest smile)
8)Be realistic- Being a positive person doesn’t mean you aren’t ever allowed to feel negative towards something. Life is hard and that’s ok. Take a moment to your self and reflect and analyze why you are feeling the way you do. And then do #7
9)Embrace the trial that you might be facing so that it can pass by sooner than later. Remember that challenges are not meat to put you down. These hard times are meant to create opportunities for growth and improvement.
10)Love yourself always- Repeat positive affirmations to your self every morning. This has been proven to work wonders! Be your own cheerleader. GO JESS GO! 🙂
