Depression during pregnancy is more common than I thought! With my last pregnancy I felt anxiety, loneliness and zero energy.  At first I thought that’s just how pregnancies are.  But the more I compared it to my other pregnancies the more I realized this time, something was different.. I just couldn’t put my finger on it.  I did lots of research online (thank goodness for internet!) and I realized after a few days of reading that I was suffering from pregnancy blues (depression).  If you feel like you might be suffering from depression I advice you to look it up, do some research of your own and ask for help! From your spouse, your siblings, your friends.  Remember that there are so many people that love you and that want to see you happy and healthy! Click here for more information about what causes depression during pregnancy and what steps you can take to get better!

One “not so obvious” tip I could give you is to dress up often.  That doesn’t have to mean a dress.  It could be anything that makes you feel pretty.  Dressing up, getting ready for the day and doing my hair boosted my self steam more than hearing from others that I was beautiful.  Although those words were very encouraging and I was truly grateful for their kind words I still felt .. just plain.. and round.  But once I started to make the effort to get up a little bit ready to get ready before the kids woke up it helped me start off my day on to a great start!  And when you can, go buy some flowers.  There is something about fresh flowers that just brightens anybody’s day!

This was way before Karen started My Chic Bump. Our old maternity blog.  Now that I know about how to dress up a bump I really wish had this knowledge before! 🙂 Seraphine Maternity has some of the best maternity dresses I have ever seen.  They really focus on the right things:  Style and comfort! Although many celebrities like Carrie Underwood and even The Duchess of Cambridge have worn many peaces of their collections, very much of their focus are for women like you and I.  You don’t have to be famous to be stylish.  Seraphine Maternity makes it easy for us!
