Kylie Cosmetics Summer Collection

In the month of June, Vogue posted a video of Kylie Jenner doing her makeup routine and sharing some beauty tips a long the way which got a crazy amount of views and comments, but most importantly, Kylie showed us all a peak at the Summer Collection of her makeup brand Kylie Cosmetics!  As soon as I saw the palette I knew I had to have it.  I made up my mind right then and there that I wouldn’t look at makeup reviews before purchasing some of the products from her summer collection.  For the first time I was actually interested and excited to purchase one or maybe more than one product from her cosmetic line.  I payed closed attention to the brand’s Instagram account for updates, swatches, and launch date.

After looking at the entire collection online I decided to get two things:  The Summer Palette (of course), and the Tangerine Matte Lipstick (it was the most unique lipstick color out of the entire collection).

The Summer Palette $44:  The entire look of the palette is fantastic.  I love the packaging, I love all of the shades in the palette.  There isn’t a single eyeshadow that I wouldn’t use and it’s hard to find a palette that doesn’t have one or a few eyeshadows that you would never touch.  So for me, that was a selling point.  I knew I would get a lot of use out of this palette.  My favorite eyeshadows are Juicy, Hottie, and Heat Wave.  The Matte eyeshadows have amazing pigmentation but a lot of fallout.  The problem with that is that you loose a lot of makeup unless you are very careful when touching them with your makeup brushes.  A little bit will go a long way.  So as long as you don’t go crazy and press really hard on them it will last you a long time!  I really appreciate the fact that they put a mirror in this palette.  It really does make a difference for me.

Tangerine Matte Lipstick $17: The color is so bold and it’s definitely long lasting! It’s not the most comfortable matte lipstick I own though.  I wish the formula was different.  A more creamy,  buttery matte lipstick texture would have been bomb!  After a while the product started to set in the natural cracks of my lips which made my lips look a bit dry.  But if you just look at the color it really is perfect for a summer party.

When I saw the look Ariel (her makeup artist) created on her using her Summer Collection I was immediately impressed and inspired by the beautiful work he did.  It was artistic, it was unique, it was perfect.  I wanted to try to recreate this look as soon and my products arrived!  Of course, I am not even close to being as talented as Ariel (@makeupbyariel) but I truly love his work and his skills and it’s always a great experience to try new things and new looks.  Honestly, I am not 100% satisfied with how I did my makeup because I know it’s not perfect but I am happy with it.  I’m sure if I practiced this look a few times it would look better but that day I was just so excited to play with these products and take some pictures that I didn’t care that it wasn’t perfect.

Overall, I think this is a great collection and I look forward to purchasing other items from Kylie Cosmetics in the near future.
