Testing skincare products: Drunk Elephant/Derma E

Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser Derma E Sun Defense Mineral Oil-Free Sunscreen

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream

Happy Thursday everyone!  It’s been a minute since my last blog post and I wanted to share with you three new skincare products I am testing right now: The Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream, the Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Cleaner and their Mineral Sunscreen.  I don’t know about you but trying three new products at the same time is a lot in my book.  I typically try one thing at a time to prevent potential bad skin reaction/sensitivity/acne.  But I guess I am feeling pretty brave now a days since I feel like I know my skin pretty darn well at this point.  It’s been a few days and so far so good!  I want to take my time and use these skincare products for a while before writing a detailed review and I will split the review into two separate posts since we are talking about two separate brands.  My skin is currently doing great!  Not perfect (ever), but great.  Again, this goes back to knowing my skin well, meaning, I always know the reason behind any breakout or skin reaction.  Whenever my skin is not looking it’s best I know just what it needs.  It took years to get to this point but one tip I will give you is to keep a “skin journal”.  This really helped me to get the root of the problem.  I now know if it was food, stress, sleep, hormones, a dirty pillow case (ew!) or a dirty phone screen that caused my skin to get upset.  Also, doing a lot of research on different ingredients was very important in order to make the right choices when it came to purchasing skincare products.

Even though I can’t give you a in-depth review on these items right now I will tell you why I decided to give these products a try.  Derma E products have been good to me in the past.  In fact, I swear by two of their products that I use on weekly basis! (more on this soon!).  So when it came to trying out other skincare items from this brand I wasn’t too hesitant.  I also know that because I am acne prone, mineral sunscreen will always cause little to no breakouts as oppose to regular sunscreen.  As far as the cleanser goes.. well the cleanser says “anti-wrinkle” and “Glycolic acid” which is good for giving you a brighter complexion because it helps with discoloration, scaring, and it’s a great acne treatment.  Derma E did a good job at naming this cleanser, that’s for sure!

The one product I was the most nervous and excited to try was the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream.  Although I had heard a lot of great things about this brand I still did not have the courage to try a new skincare brand up until recently when I went to Sephora.  To be honest, I initially went to Sephora to purchase my regular face moisturizer.  I shared my skincare concerns with an employee at Sephora and she recommended that I give the Protini Polypeptide Cream a try.  Here is what I was looking for: A general/gentle moisturizer.  That’s it.  I wasn’t looking for anti aging, an acne treatment cream, a brightening cream, nothing like that.  I just wanted a good/clean, everyday moisturizer.  One of the things I liked right away after the first time that I used this cream was that it had no fragrance!  My skin will feel a bit irritated if I use something with a strong fragrance.  I also loved learning that this brand is one of the most clean and purest brands out there.  Their packaging is also bomb because it prevents bacteria from getting in.

If you love skincare as much as I do subscribe to my blog so that you don’t miss the full review on each of these skincare products in a couple of weeks!
