Drugstore makeup- all day wear test

I have received requests on Instagram for drugstore/affordable makeup reviews for as long as I can remember.  I always gravitate towards high end makeup because they have almost never failed me and I love treating my self to nice, high quality beauty products.  Some people are into bags, some people spent money on clothes, going out out to eat or on extravagant vacations.  But I like to spent my money on skincare and makeup.  That’s what makes me happy.  When I get a new lipstick I feel so happy and I can’t stop smiling all day.  I feel just as happy when I receive messages from people letting me know that my advice, blog post, or video on IGTV has helped them find the right product or spa service that their skin needed!  I’m smiling right now as I type this blog post.  That’s all I want.. I want to be useful and helpful to you.  We all have different makeup preferences, skin types, and concerns.  So I try my best to cater to all of you.  Part of that is finding good products that are more affordable.  I wasn’t always able to purchase high end or luxury makeup.  So I understand that you want information and reviews on drugstore beauty products that you can add to your collection or makeup bag.  If you and I are the same in some way… then you want good quality products!  That doesn’t have to always be expensive though.  So I am on the quest to finding the most amazing affordable makeup there is so that you can have more options when searching for new products to try.
For the last 3-4 Saturdays I have taken 30 minutes to an hour to search and shop for affordable makeup that I can test and do an all day wear test review for you guys.  I have quite the collection now so it’s time to start trying all these different products.  A lot of the products I use are new releases and some have been around for a little bit but it’s all new to me.
You are probably wondering what you can expect from all of this.  If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that I always write detailed reviews.  Wether it’s related to makeup, skincare, or spa treatments.  The more information the better don’t you think?.  Just like a skincare routine is personal and different for each one of us, it’s the same when it comes to makeup.  I will let you know what works and doesn’t work for me.  But I will also let you know if that product would work best for a different skin type.  I will always keep it honest and straight to the point.  You should never take these reviews personal because at the end of the day… It’s just makeup.  The last thing I want to add is that I have high expectations when it comes to beauty products.  Wether something is affordable or not, I always look for long lasting products.  I want great quality products.  At all times.
You are also welcome to look at the footage I filmed for IGTV.  Because I don’t have a large following on social media I can only post short videos.  I wish it could have just been one video but unfortunately you will have to watch 3 parts.  Part 1 is me putting on makeup.  Part 2 is my initial reaction/thoughts.  Part 3 is the final review after wearing the new products on my face for most of the day.

First impression? WOW.  Honestly, I was speechless.  The foundation gave me that skin like look and the coverage was incredible!  It’s hard to believe that such light weight product can have that much coverage.  I’m still trying to wrap my mind around this.  Full coverage with a natural finish.. WHAT?!.  Listen, I have tried so many and I mean soooo many high end foundations that promise a full coverage with a natural finish and they did not deliver, making me feel frustrated and disappointed after a few hours of wearing foundation on my skin.  I am telling you that this $10.99 foundation preformed better than a lot of luxury foundations I have tried!  If you watch part 3 you will know that at the end of the day my t-zone did look oily but I also did not use a primer or a setting spray that day.  I like testing new foundations without anything else.  Without adding “extra help” because I believe that a foundation should preform well on it’s own.  Now, I do want to try this foundation again with the mattifying primer underneath (specifically on my forehead and nose) so that I can see if it will make a huge difference and I think it will.  If you have dry skin you will LOVE this foundation.  Although it promises a matte finish it is not drying and it won’t make your skin look dull.

Catrice Cosmetics- Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer 032 Nude Beige $5.99
Oh gosh.  Please if you try this concealer know that it sets incredibly fast!  I recommend that you blend the product as soon as you apply the concealer to the under eye area and same goes for spot concealing.  This concealer promises to give you optimal coverage without drying the skin.  The skin under my eyes has always needed extra hydration.  I always make sure to prep the skin by applying a great eye cream before makeup.   I really liked the finish of this concealer and I was glad that it did not make me look older!  A lot of full coverage concealers make me look 10 years older.   It did great at covering my dark circles but I made sure to not apply a lot of product since I wasn’t sure how well it would preform.  I had to go visit family right after so I didn’t want to risk having a lot of creasing under my eyes.  The only thing I would change is the shade I picked.  I did not do great at choosing the correct shade for the foundation either!  I can’t be the only one hat has a hard time purchasing the right shade by just looking at online pictures.  Would I recommend this concealer? Yes.  If you have oily skin this will be a good concealer to try too because it’s waterproof! Yes girl, waterproof!  It does last for many hours.

What first attracted me to this eyeshadow palette was the warm colors and the cute, petite, easy to store size of the palette.  You can’t ever go wrong with a warm neutral palette right?!  Let’s get to the point.  The color and pigmentation was there.  Quality though?.. not so much.  The fallout was too much for me.  I’m glad I did the eye makeup before applying foundation because I had to use a makeup wipe to take away the fallout that was sitting on my cheeks and nose.  Is it a bad palette? No.  If I wasn’t so picky with eyeshadow fallout I would recommend this palette to someone who is just now getting into makeup.  I still think the colors are super pretty.  The price for the eyeshadow palette is great as well.  This is a $7.00 eyeshadow palette.  That is the quality/worth of this palette.  Leave a comment below if you would purchase this! 🙂  I know not everyone is a picky as me!
This isn’t a new purchase but if you watch this video you will see that I did use one eyeshadow from this palette so I thought I would mention it here on this blog post as well.  Maybelline is such a great brand.  Always looking for ways to make great products and always listening to their consumers.  I am a fan of Maybelline.  I have had this palette for a while and  I will say I love the quality of most of the eyeshadows.  There are a couple that do not match the quality of the rest of the eyeshadows meaning, they are not as pigmented or buttery.  The shimmers are amazing though.  I have kept this palette mostly for the shimmers.

I love that I can customize a lash look with these flirty Wispies Clusters!  Individual lashes are so much easier to apply than strip lashes but these clusters made the whole process so quick!  I highly recommend these. I already went online and got 2 more boxes.   Wether you are a new Makeup Artist starting to put together a kit and have a tight budget or if you are just a beauty addict who wants good affordable false lashes.. get these!!! You won’t regret it.   I love that you can create a natural look with these lashes and apply a few clusters at the end of your lash line for a soft eye lift effect or go for a more dramatic look by applying one on top of each other for a true customized lash look that will give your eyes that pop!

Catrice- Blush Box 040 Berry $5.99

The color of this blush reminded me of my Laura Mercier and Estee Lauder blushes.  But the question was:  Will it preform as well as my high end blushes?!  This powder blush looks beautiful on the skin.  It did not go on patchy which is already a win.  But I was curious wether it would fade after a couple of hours like most blushes out there or if it would really last all day!  This waterproof, sweat resistant blush passed the test.  After 7 hours the blush color was still there.  Yes, it had faded a little (watch part 3 on IGTV) but the same thing happens with my Laura Mercier and Estee Lauder blushes.  I want to get the other 4 shades now.

Catrice- 3D Glow Highlighter 030 Warm Embrace $6.99

Better than many expensive highlighters!  That’s probably all I need to say but for those of you who love long product reviews I’ll share more information haha.  You get the most exciting, powerful, instant glow with just a light application.  Pigmentation is 1000%.  The formula is so creamy, rich, buttery and delicious!  Delicious??? haha yes.  I would definitely recommend this to a friend.  “Warm Embrace” will look beautiful on your skin if you have a tan or if you have medium to dark skin tone.  They only have 3 shades available and I want them all now.  Right now.

L.A. Girl- Ultimate Lip Intense Auto Liner Im Keep It Spicy $4.99
I have bought this lip pencil 3 times now.  It’s good.  It’s really good.  I love the cream and easy application.  It’s not the most long lasting lip liner pencil there is but it does last a while and the shade “Keep It Spicy” it’s a classic.  Love the matte finish and that it is smudge proof.  You can’t beat the price!  This is worth more than $4.99.  Trust me.

Essence- Insta-Care Lipstick 01 Sandy Sunrise $3.49Who else loves a buttery soft lipstick?!  This lipstick made my lips feel so moisturized and soft even after it wore off.  “Sandy Sunrise” is such a beautiful warm nude shade.  Pair this with the lip pencil I mentioned above and you will now have expensive looking lips for an affordable price!  I received my compliments that day on this lip combo.  I have never been so happy with a $3.49 purchase before.  It’s not transfer proof and it’s not a long lasting lipstick.  But if you are looking for something that is soothing and really comfortable on your lips this is a good lipstick to try.
